The Excellence in Literacy Quality Mark was launched at the IOE, London on 27th January to an audience of over 200 school leaders and other educators. Keynote speakers included Professor Peter Blatchford who shared findings from large scale research into the deployment and impact of support staff in schools.

Professor Toby Greany proposed a model of schools as researchers and developers of their own practice and Professor Sonia Blandford described ways in which schools could prepare for the SEND reforms and ensure that every child has a literate future. Julia Douetil, Head of the International Literacy Centre at the IOE spoke about effective professional learning for teachers. Helen Morris, Quality Mark lead outlined the Framework for Excellence in Literacy and explained how the messages from the keynote speakers related to each of the five themes.
